Duplin Country Club, the hidden gem
Renovated in 2014 Duplin Country Club continues to surprise all members and guest every time they tee it up, as the 18 – hole layout surpasses all expectations, and is consistently called, and well deserved the hidden gem of eastern North Carolina. Surrounded by longleaf pines, protected wetlands Duplin Country Club offers a beautiful and relaxed setting, well maintained greens, fairways, and tees, the golf course provides golfers of all ability a challenging yet satisfying golf experience.
Located in Kenansville, North Carolina, the course is nestled sweetly in coastal North Carolina minutes from Duplin airport, ten minutes off Interstate 40, one hour away from the beautiful beaches of North Carolina if you’re heading east, and one hour away from the Capital city of Raleigh heading north.
Purchased by local owners, these partners envisioned the club as not only a venue for area sportsmen to play the game, build camaraderie within a small rural community, but as a “home place” where members and their guest can come together and enjoy good times in a magnificent setting.
The “inner nine” holes was built in 1962, then, the “outer nine” which is played around the entire perimeter of the “inner nine” was built and ready for play in 1983. Playing 6400 yards par 72 from the back tee plays sneaky long due to the tree – lined fairways, dog legs, strategically placed water hazards, and bunkers puts a premium on tee shot and approach placement. The 2014 renovation added another set of tees for a total of five teeing options, added bunkers, tees, cart paths, and most important, new “Champion” Bermuda grass greens bringing Duplin Country Club a true championship course and eastern North Carolina’s hidden gem.
